The most technically advanced SME turntable ever made, derived from more than 75 years of precision engineering and manufacturing to celebrate the 60th anniversary of SME entering the world of high-performance vinyl playback. The Model 60 is all-new, designed from the ground up to take advantage of the most advanced mechanical technologies available: an intelligent Suspended Suspension System with vertical and horizontal control, a hydraulically damped main bearing, decoupled adjustable feet with multi-point isolation, a sophisticated new-generation drive system with a highly accurate speed control, a synchronous AC motor with precise speed control, and an acoustically treated and damped main chassis, sub-chassis, and platter. Nothing has been left to chance and every variable has been addressed to make the Model 60 the world’s best turntable.
On the tonearm front the Model 60 is accompanied by SME’s new Series VA. The Series VA is a hyper-modified and reengineered version of the Series V, featuring an arm shaft precision machined from an exclusive non-resonant resin that is both highly dense and highly rigid, making it acoustically inert. The resulting arm assembly system has a minimized acoustic resonance signature and is sonically transparent.
Six primary Model 60 finish options are available and include an elegant brushed black or brushed silver, a honeycomb pattern machined into the top surface of the upper chassis section and available in black, silver, or blue anodizing, and SME’s bespoke Diamond Finish featuring a machined radial pattern and hand-polished aluminum chassis with contrasting black anodized accent pieces. And for the ultimate in personalization, SME offers their unique Model 60 ONE of ONE signature commission: to celebrate SME’s 75th anniversary 75 pieces of Model 60 ONE of ONE will be created world-wide, each with a unique anodized chassis color that will not be duplicated, making each Model 60 ONE of ONE a singular, one-of-a-kind piece of audio artistry.
