Loricraft Record Cleaners

Loricraft’s Professional Record Cleaner (PRC) was introduced in 1990 and quickly became established as a reference standard by way of its unique vortex cleaning technology. Today Loricraft is the go-to record cleaner of choice by leading record production studios, classic record dealers, serious collectors, and vinyl enthusiasts worldwide.

In 2018, Loricraft was acquired by SME Limited. The resulting improved PRC4i & PRC6i display exceptional build quality and unmatched vinyl cleaning performance. Natural wood veneer cabinets, high-precision engineered mechanical drive systems, and quieter operation make Loricraft the essential choice for vinyl lovers and valuable record collectors.

Superior in Functionality

Loricraft’s iconic cleaning system is perhaps the finest available, of particular value to professional studios, record stores trading in valuable or classic vinyl, and serious collectors with a huge record library investment. Loricraft cleaning machines do an unequalled job of extracting contaminants and keeping records in pristine condition, even examples that have been poorly handled or stored. Although more expensive than other “wet system” cleaning machines, their intelligent design advantages, such as reversible drive to clean records in both directions and remove embedded grit, produce truly superior results.

Minimal Residue

A high-performance vacuum pump creates the powerful, focused vortex between the cleaning nozzle and record surface that efficiently vacuums the working cleaning fluid and loosened contaminants away from the record. Soiled cleaning fluid (containing dirt and contaminants) is vacuumed from the record surface before the fluid evaporates to eliminate any residue being left and provides a thoroughly clean, dry surface–unlike conventional cleaning machines.

Low Noise Level

Ultrasonic method or traditional vacuum record cleaning machines can be rather noisy in operation and take more time while also requiring more than one cleaning. Loricraft record cleaners, however, have been specifically designed and engineered to operate with a very low noise level. This is achieved by a combinations of a specially developed vacuum pump and the use of high-density noise absorption foam inside the casework. The PRC6i is extremely quiet, being 7dB quieter than even the already hushed PRC4i. This makes the Loricraft system quiet enough to play music and converse during the cleaning process and both machines will provide approximately 1,000 cleanings from the included fluid if mixed properly.

Why Clean Records?

As all experienced analog music fans will know, cleaning vinyl records and ensuring that they’re contaminant and grit free is an important factor in their preservation and overall sonic performance. It’s also important for maintaining optimum sound quality. Fingerprints, dirt, dust, smoke residue, and static electricity all create unwanted noise, causing clicks, pops, surface noise, and distortion. In particular, second-hand record purchases should always be cleaned before being played with a high-quality phono cartridge. The presence of dust and grime will diminish sound quality, and in more extreme conditions can contribute to the physical damage of a record or stylus.

On the other hand, new records can be positively charged with static electricity straight out of the record sleeve. Statically charged records attract lint, dust, and dirt particles from the air or any nearby surface and will stick to the turntable mat every time you swap sides or remove the record. They may also have packaging debris and release agent remnants from the manufacturing process, so even new records will benefit from being properly cleaned before use.

Most records should sound great if pressed correctly and mastered to a high degree of quality, though it’s always important to remember: this is an analog medium, requiring regular cleaning and maintenance. If you love vinyl, the best way to thoroughly clean your records is with a Loricraft record cleaning machine.
