The term “entry level” is rooted in irony.
Products based purely on price or reducing prices are never labeled, “entry level.” Instead, they’re referred to as “economical,” “affordable,” or any number of things. Companies that are trying to make everything as inexpensively as possible don’t make entry level products, they just make products.
The term “entry level” really comes from companies that make things that define certain categories, like luxury, performance, engineering, design, or occasionally, all at once. A Hästens Marquis is still a Hästens. The least expensive Audemars Piguet is still an Audemars Piguet. And the entry level Franc series is still made up of Franc products built to the same standards as any other Franc product. Pricing has been kept reasonable by limiting customization options and reducing complexity, but in the end a Modular Basic rack or platform is still the world’s best audio isolation device at its price point.
With Modular Basic Franc has taken the original Modular concept—the ability to grow a simple platform or amp stand horizontally or vertically into a fully custom rack system—and refined it. The shelves have more mass and isolation has been improved. To prevent price increases, all Modular Basic racks and platforms adhere to Henry Ford’s Model T proclamation: you can have any color you want as long as it’s black (matte black to be precise).
A true entry level product.
